A blog before we go!

Well since we are flying out on Sunday to Alabama, I figured I'd update one last time!
Wednesday (aka Daddy/Papa's birthday!!) was a crazy busy day for myself. I decided that morning to take matters into my own hands about the house. I just wanted to see if they told ME that the housing we wanted was a 3 month wait. No, they actually told me its a minimum of 6 month waiting. But that there's other housing available today if we wanted it. I called Josh and told him it was a 6 month wait and he told me just to get whatever the nicest housing was on that side of base. Why was that so easy? He's been fighting me with the whole housing thing ever since Apri1! Well, I guess I have housing to thank for that one. ANYWHO- I called back to get more info but what a suprise, NO body was answering the phones! I decided just to go up to base because I knew I'd get faster answers if I were there in person. The Lincoln housing lady was soo nice and told me I could go to the other office down the street (of course.. let me just load up my kids another time) to get a courtesy key and look at the houses available. The woman at that office told me pretty much opposite of what the Lincoln lady told me, saying they had zero houses available in Pacific View (when Lincoln told me they had 58 houses) anyway! She gave me two keys. I won't even waste my time talking about the one house because I fell in absolute LOOVEE with the other!!!! First off, it was huge. And already had that homey feel to it even though it was empty. There was a half bath downstairs and upstairs both bathrooms had double sinks (what?! this is military housing???) master bedroom had a huge walk in closet! There was a utility room (decent size) along with a very roomy two car garage. Oh it was just beautiful! I wanted to stay and move in right then & there... It killllllls me because we could have had it THAT DAY! But since we're going home and Josh isn't checked into his new unit, we have to wait to get a house in that neighborhood when we get back. But at least we are on the list. And she told me the next opening is in July. So, pleeeease, cross your fingers :)

We went by the beach (long day, they needed to get out before we headed out another hour!) after the very chaotic day of getting in and out of carseats and talking to multiple people.. So I'll share those pics in a minute

Last night Elizabeth's Mom & Granny got into San Diego, so this morning they're all gathered downstairs, along with my nosy 3 year old :)

I didn't even add the drama from yesterday with the storage building and moving truck, But I'm tired of typing.. Nevertheless, Josh is getting a truck at noon today & loading it up & heading down to Oceanside. I have a feeling he won't feel like unloading it all tonight. Because that's going to be a super long drive, with traffic, and a heavy truck. So, there goes our Saturday, and then we fly out Sunday. Please pray for us, moving boxes and heavy lifting is not my thing so he gets a tad frustrated with me! :)

Well,
That's my story~!!

My first "big" Earthquake!

Well it's 15 til 11pm and I'm still awake. Thanks to Excedrin that I took about 3 today. It always keeps me up for hours, hopefully it'll die down soon. Anyway! Around 930pm tonight while Jacob, Elizabeth & myself were watching Avatar (good flick by the way..) I heard rattling coming from the roof and I didn't know what was causing it but it instantly scared me and my heart started racing wondering if someone was trying to get into their apartment (intensely breaking in) and I hear metal scratching and then I turn to look at Elizabeth and she says Jacob!?! And he says "it's an earthquake". We had Avatar up pretty loud (plus the surround sound) so Liz thought that we just had the TV up too loud. We all stood up and I got into a surfer like position (we laugh about it now) asking "what do we do!?!?! I've gotta go check on my girls!!!" The TV was rocking so of course Jacob had to go hold it cause that's what's most important in life, obviously :) And me & Elizabeth ran upstairs, just completely confused of what we're supposed to do during a quake. I checked on the girls and Kinsley was staring at me when I opened the door, I'm pretty positive her TV shook and all the shaking woke her up! Bless my babies hearts! I'm so glad nothing was hanging on the walls to possibly fall on them. Turns out it was a 5.7 magnitude earthquake. OH did I mention Josh had left around 5 today to go back to 29 Palms?? Yeah! So he wasn't even next to me when this happened. So I'm kinda scared going to bed alone :(

Let me update on our latest.

Turns out Josh can't check out of his unit in 29 Palms until Thursday (go figure) but good news, he gets 30 days off of work aka "leave". So starting Thursday he's off for a month! Woo hoo!! Oh but not fun news, it turns out that since Josh is checking out of his old unit, in order for the USMC to pay for our move to Camp Pendleton (and since we don't have a house yet) we have to MOVE OUT OF OUR CURRENT STG BUILDING and drive it all down to a storage in CP!!!!!!! I am NOT even kidding!! How COMPLETELY unnecessary is that?!? But yes, we have to waste our time and money moving this Friday to a stg building in Oceanside so that the Marines will pay for it. Ugh. Lovely... But anywho; We decided we'd go home (why not? we don't have a house, and won't get one during his time off, unfortunately!!) so we bought one way tickets to Alabama for this coming Sunday, Father's day :) Our plan right now is to look for an extended cab truck while we're home and drive *yes, I just said drive* it back here to San Diego. What an adventure that would be......... haha! We shall see! I'm looking forward to swimming in Granny & Papa's pool, hanging out with my friends, eating real southern (fatty) meals.. and just being around the people we love most in this world! I think I really am overdue for a little break from mommyhood, so I'm really glad we get to come home and I'll have lots of helping hands nearby!!

I shall update when there's updating due!!

Officially a SOI Instructor!

Prouddddd to announce that my sweet husband is done with his school and is officially a SOI Instructor for the USMC! :) The girls and I drove to San Onofre to watch him graduate yesterday. It was really neat getting to be in the classroom he had spent sooo many hours in these past 63 days. And to see all the guys he had gone through it with! Witnessing something like that makes you even more proud of the job he's doing and makes you especially appreciate him.. He leaves this evening for 29 Palms, he's got a few things to do there for the next week before we can get on the list to get a house (or so they say.. even though some guys already have a house lined up.. but whatever) So the girls and I will be here at Jacob & Elizabeth's without him for quite a while! Times like these makes me really wish Alabama were closer to us so we could just go visit family while he's gone to pass the time. It's going to be a very long 4 years, I'm afraid. The situation with housing (so far) is like this.. The woman he spoke to at housing told him since he's a SGT and we have two kids we have to live in San Onofre 3 (there's 1,2, and 3) which is the closest to his work, which is where we prefer living. Except she said there's a good 3 month wait to get a house. Now, we could settle for other housing on base but that'd mean Josh would have to drive at leastttt 25min to get to work every morning (and being an instructor he will have very very early mornings and late nights) PLUS Josh is selling his Jeep soon so that puts us back to one vehicle. So he'd be gone with the car all day long, leaving us at home. Not in walking distance to the beach (like we would be if we were at San Onfore). We're just going to wait this week out and see what happens. 3 months is a really long time when you don't have a house.. But I have a few options to do while we wait, so we shall see!!
